Connect a cPanel / hosting mailbox (IMAP)
If your info@yourdomain.com lives on a hosting plan (cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin…), you can connect it to All Your Inboxes over IMAP: no forwarding to configure — the system watches the mailbox directly. Type the address and we find the server; the only thing you need is the password.
1 · Open the Advanced connection
- Panel → Inboxes → Connect inbox → Advanced.
- Type the email address (e.g. info@yourdomain.com).
- The system discovers the IMAP server automatically — no host name, port, or security setting to enter by hand.
2 · Enter the password
- Type the mailbox password and press Connect.
- This is the WEBMAIL / mailbox password — not the password you use for your hosting panel. They're usually different.
- Once connected, the inbox appears in the panel and new mail starts landing at your notification address.
Don't know the password? Here's where it lives
- Log in to cPanel → Email Accounts → click Connect Devices on the address's row.
- The page shows the username and server details under “Mail Client Manual Settings”; if you don't remember the password, reset it via Manage → New Password on the same row.
- If you reset it, remember to update the phone/desktop mail apps that use the same mailbox.
Replying (SMTP) — same screen
- Sending is configured from the same place on the Advanced screen: on most hosting, the IMAP password works for SMTP too and nothing extra is needed.
- If the mailbox is on Gmail, Yahoo, or Yandex, the normal password will NOT work for sending — those providers require an “app password”. The screen links you straight to each provider's app-password page; create one there and paste it.
- With SMTP connected, just hit Reply on a notification; the reply goes out from the mailbox's own address (details: /docs/replying).
Something wrong? Real errors and their fixes
“Authentication failed”
Nine times out of ten: you're typing the hosting-panel password, not the mailbox password. Set a fresh one via cPanel → Email Accounts → Manage → New Password and use that. Also make sure the username is the FULL address (info@yourdomain.com, not just “info”).
The server couldn't be discovered
Your domain's DNS may be missing the standard mail records. Note the “Incoming Server” value shown on cPanel → Email Accounts → Connect Devices — a manual server field appears on the screen, enter it there. If the problem persists, the Deliverability page shows what's missing in DNS (see /docs/deliverability-guide).
Connected, but old mail doesn't show up
That's expected: the system watches the mailbox from the moment it's connected and notifies you about NEW mail. It doesn't migrate your archive — send a fresh mail after connecting to test.
I can't connect my personal Outlook/Hotmail here
Correct — Microsoft switched off password-based IMAP for personal accounts entirely, so this screen can't work for those mailboxes. For Outlook/Hotmail use forwarding + Connect Microsoft instead: /docs/outlook-forwarding.
