Gmail forwarding, step by step (with every trap)
The complete path to connecting a Gmail (or Google Workspace) mailbox to All Your Inboxes. Every warning on this page was hit for real during a live setup.
1 · Add the inbox in the panel
- Panel → Inboxes → Connect inbox.
- Enter a project name and the Gmail address → Continue.
- Copy the forwarding address shown (f.xxxx@allyourinboxes.com) with Copy address.
2 · Add the forwarding address in Gmail
- Gmail → ⚙️ → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
- Add a forwarding address → paste the copied address → Next → Proceed → OK.
- Gmail sends a confirmation request. It REACHES you: a notification titled “Gmail Forwarding Confirmation” lands at your notification address.
3 · Click the confirmation link
- Click the FIRST link in that notification (it starts with mail-settings.google.com/mail/vf-…). A “Confirmation Success” page opens.
- Careful: the second link starting with uf-… is the REJECT link — don't click it.
- The link is long and may wrap mid-line; if clicking fails, copy the whole thing into your browser.
4 · Enable forwarding and save
- Back in Gmail's Forwarding tab, REFRESH the page.
- Select “Forward a copy of incoming mail to …” (fill the radio button).
- Press Save Changes at the bottom. The page will confirm your settings were saved.
5 · Test it
- Send a test email to this Gmail address from another account.
- It lands at your notification address tagged [Project] within 5–10 seconds. The very first forward can take up to a minute.
- Important: forwarding only applies to mail arriving AFTER it was enabled — resend your test if you sent one earlier.
Something wrong? Real errors and their real fixes
“Invalid forwarding address. Your preferences were not saved.” (when pressing Save)
The address isn't verified yet. Gmail always rejects saving with an unverified address using this exact message — it does not mean the address is wrong. Click the confirmation link from step 3, refresh, then save.
“Invalid forwarding address” (already when adding)
Google treats adding forwarding as security-sensitive and silently rejects requests from sessions/IPs it distrusts — with this same generic message, no matter what address you type. Fix: wait a few hours and make ONE clean attempt (repeated tries extend the block); trying from a different network (e.g. mobile data) also helps. Confirming any alerts at myaccount.google.com/security speeds it up.
“You are already forwarding all your mail to that address”
The address is already in your list — you're adding it twice. Skip adding; go to verification and saving.
The confirmation never arrived
Check your notification address (including spam). It arrives as a notification from us titled “Gmail Forwarding Confirmation”. If it's missing, press “Resend email” next to the address in Gmail.
Saved, but mail isn't coming through
Forwarding only covers new mail — send a fresh test AFTER saving. Wait a minute. If still nothing, confirm the second radio option is really selected and you saw the “saved” confirmation.
Note: if your domain is on Cloudflare you don't need this page at all — we create the address for you in one click, with no forwarding setup and no confirmation step.
